Microsoft offers a host of different ways to provide REST based services to client applications. The three most common are WCF REST, MVC, and ASP.NET based listeners in IIS 7.0. Scott starts out by implementing a service using IIS 7.0 handlers, then reimplements the service in MVC and finally in WCF REST. At the end of the talk, we’ll go over what is different and when each technique makes sense. Scott co-authored Effective REST Services via .NET and draws on that book for this talk. Bio: Scott Seely first learned to program on a TI-94A back in 1981. In college, he switched from engineering to computer science when he realized that he enjoyed the required programming classes a bit more than the folks around him. He has written several books, most recently Effective REST Services via .NET. Scott spent six years at Microsoft, leaving with several patents on technology in WCF. These days, he’s the owner (and sole employee!) of Friseton, LLC, a consulting and training company based out of Lake Villa, Illinois. Twitter: /sseely Website/Blog: www.scottseely.com/blog.aspx Meeting Agenda - 5:00pm: Networking with sponsors and members
- 5:30pm: Free pizza and soda
- 6:00pm: Introduction and start main presentation
