Description:

Scripting The Build with MSBuild

Does publishing your application require opening up Visual Studio, manually making changes, follow a long unwritten checklist of tasks, and cross your fingers that you remembered everything?  In other words, can you pass step 2 of The Joel Test?  Why not make use of tools and community libraries that already exist to automate this process for you.  You can take that long list of tasks down to a single mouse click.  This talk will cover how to take an existing Visual Studio solution and automate the publishing process.  The talk will cover publishing both websites and desktop applications.

BIO: Steve is an independent consultant based out of Sun Prairie.  In his time with previous companies he's worked with .NET technologies including .NET 1.1 - 3.0, WF, Powershell, and ASP.NET (and some of its flavors: MVC and Dynamic Data).  He's also jumped into Java, 4GL, VB Script, and JavaScript among others.  A vast majority of the time he'll be in front of the computer playing with a multitude of technologies, trying to automate the tedious tasks in life, or the "occasional" post to Twitter (http://twitter.com/kopelli).  When he manages to walk away from the computer he still has podcasts with him to keep learning more.  When the weather's nice you'll find him outside on a hike or camping.
